I have been drawing all of my life. Born and raised in Charlotte, NC, my love of illustration was cultivated by many skilled art teachers and mentors, while my love of books and poetry was encouraged by my mother, a librarian. I got my professional start at the tender age of 15 as a popular caricature artist for parties and events. Today with over 25 years of experience, I enjoy visiting schools and libraries to share the love of art and writing.
Having spent many years of my adult life living in Bermuda, my art is inspired by the natural beauty, bright pastel colors, and the sharp lines created by the island’s ever present sun. I am also greatly inspired by jazz and the dapper fashion of its innovators. I love combining traditional and digital illustration to tell little known stories of everyday people to encourage children from all cultures. Now, I call New York’s beautiful Hudson Valley my home.
